3 Ways to Naturally Remove Bathroom Odors
Posted on June 24th, 2015
Are you hosting this year’s 4th of July barbecue? If so, your house — especially the bathroom — is about to get a lot of traffic. Don’t let foul smells cause a stink!
Below, we discuss a few ways to naturally remove bathroom odors:
1. Upcycle your plug-ins
Unfortunately, store-bought air fresheners tend to contain chemicals that compromise your indoor air quality and can irritate your lungs. The good news is that plug-ins can be repurposed! Pour out the toxins, and then thoroughly wash and dry the bulb. Refill it with water and a couple of drops of essential oil, like lemon or peppermint.
2. Hide toilet odors
Green lifestyle expert and blogger Crunchy Betty recommends using the power of eucalyptus to hide toilet smells. “Two to three drops in your toilet water, before doing your business, will nearly completely eliminate any odorous evidence that you’ve done anything,” she writes. Other fresh-smelling oils, like wintergreen and grapefruit, will work as well!
3. Make a simmer scent pot
Freshen up your whole house with water and aromatic herbs. Bring it to a boil, and allow it to simmer. For a bathroom-specific simmer scent pot, place a small bowl over a candle-fueled diffuser. It’ll keep your bathroom smelling amazing all day long.
Use one or more of these methods for a clean-smelling bathroom this July 4th! After all, your party should be remembered for the fireworks, not the fumes.
