Labor Day Party HVAC Tips to Know
Posted on August 30th, 2019
Labor Day celebrations mark the unofficial end of summer for many Americans. One last hoorah filled with family, friends, and great food is an excellent way to embrace the end of one season and welcome fall.
Before you bust out the grill and get ready to celebrate Labor Day, here are a few HVAC tips to keep your home cool, comfortable, and safe for everyone.
Avoid Any Vent Blocks
Furniture tends to get moved around when people come over. If there are kids in attendance, you can guarantee that things will be all over the floor. Make sure that furniture or other objects never obstruct your system’s air vents.
Not only does a blocked vent disrupt airflow, but it can also cause your system to work harder and strain the hardware.
Avoid Indoor Heat
Fire up the grill, but don’t turn on the oven. Raising your home’s internal temperature will cause your air conditioning to run longer. You may even need to lower the thermostat to keep a comfortable atmosphere.
If too many people gather indoors, the natural temperature will rise, and you’ll be paying double to keep things cool. Instead, offer plenty of shade and hydration. People will enjoy being able to relax in the fresh air, and you’ll prevent your air conditioning from having to work overtime.
Schedule a Maintenance Call if Needed
When is the last time you had your HVAC system looked at? Routine tune-ups are an excellent way to prevent damages and premature failure. The last thing you want is for your air conditioner to stop working in the middle of a summer event.
