How To Reduce Water Use During the Summer Months
Posted on July 25th, 2017
Looking to cut back on water use at home? Saving water is important — especially during the hot summer months. If you’re looking to reduce the amount of water that you are using on a daily basis, here are a few tips to help get you started.
How to Reduce Water Use:
- Water Your Yard in the Morning or Evening – Water evaporates way too quickly during the middle of the day. Make sure that you are watering any plants during the early morning or late evening hours, so that they have time to absorb the water before it evaporates.
- Fix Those Leaky Faucets – It’s time to finally fix that leaky kitchen faucet! Did you know that a leak of just one drop per second wastes 2,700 gallons of water per year? Taking the time to fix any leaky faucets around your home can lead to significant annual savings.
- Keep Your Pool Covered – If you have a pool at home, keep it covered when it’s not in use. This will help keep the pool water from evaporating.
- Only Wash Full Loads of Laundry – Make sure that you only wash full loads of laundry, and if you do need to wash a partial load, adjust the water level to match your laundry needs
