What’s the Perfect Temperature to Set My Thermostat at Night?
Posted on November 27th, 2018
Let’s face it: some nights your room can feel like a sauna. Despite opening the windows or sleeping with thin sheets, your bed will feel like the embers of a freshly lit grill. Of course, you could invest in a portable fan — but sometimes that doesn’t make a dent. If you’re looking for a comfortable night’s rest, then we have a solution: adjusting your thermostat — but what’s the magic number?
Set the Room
Before you adjust the temperature on your thermostat, it’s important to make sure your room is as comfortable as possible. One of the best ways to start is to switch the sheets on your bed. Sure, there might be colder nights on the way — but sometimes thicker sheets lead to an uncomfortable temperature increase. Of course, the best solution is to opt for thin, cotton sheets. These will not only keep you cool, but they allow you to layer on more blankets if you happen to feel chilly.
The Magic Range
Once you’ve changed the sheets on your bed, it’s then time to adjust your thermostat. If you have a programmable unit, then it will set the temperature for you before you head to bed — but if you have to adjust your device manually, then here’s the magic range to set your thermostat to. Believe it or not, if you happen to set the temperature anywhere between 65-68 degrees, then you’ll be good to go! Indeed, use your discretion and personal preference, since some nights the temperature might change altogether.
