Why Does the Toilet Keep Running?
Posted on May 16th, 2016
Not only is a running toilet noisy, but it can also leave you with a costly water bill at the end of the month. Fortunately, this plumbing problem is simple to fix. Here are a few of the most common reasons you are having trouble with your toilet.
Why Your Toilet is Running:
1. Your Chain is Too Short –
There is a chain between your flush lever and the flapper. If the chain is too short, it can interfere with the flapper closing properly.
2. The Flapper is Damaged –
Over time, the flapper in your toilet tank can warp or break. This will cause water to leak in
your tank. All you need to do is replace your toilet flapper.
3. The Float is Positioned Improperly –
If the float for your toilet tank is too high, your toilet will continue to run and fill with water. If the arm won’t bend on it’s own, it’s time to give us a call!
