Why Isn’t My Ice Maker Working?
Posted on April 15th, 2016
There is nothing better than an ice cold drink on a hot summer day in Arizona!
Ice makers are a convenient feature, but like any appliance, they require proper care and maintenance and sometimes our ice makers can malfunction.
Here are a few of the most common reasons why your ice machine might not be working.
There isn’t enough water.
If your ice maker isn’t getting enough water, it won’t function properly. Check the water line running to your fridge. Make sure that the water is turned on and that there are no kinks or leaks in the line.
The supply line is frozen.
If the water supply line bringing water into your ice maker is frozen, it will not be able to produce ice. You will need to carefully melt the ice in the tube so that it melts, without melting or cracking the tube. If your water line cracks, one of our technicians can replace the line for you!
The feeler arm is stuck.
The feeler arm located above the ice bin is responsible for making sure that the ice maker doesn’t continue to make ice when the bin is full. If it is raised, the ice maker won’t work! Make sure that the arm is lowered.
If you encounter any problems with the water line running to your ice maker this spring or summer, our technicians can repair or replace the ice line for you.
